Improving Group Effectiveness is a two-day seminar for new or established groups to provide the training needed to reach full potential. In addition to helping an individual team clarify its own internal operation and organization, team members are introduced to Domain Preference Theory, the most powerful model available today for understanding the process of self-management. Rationale for the Course. In response to the demands of reorganization and in an attempt to reduce response time and increase customer support, many organizations have moved toward the establishment of self-managing teams--small work groups that assume responsibility not only for their own work but for various functions such as planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating that are usually reserved for management. Effective teams can dramatically improve productivity, increase employee involvement, improve morale and enhance creativity. Teams are an important fact of organizational life. Yet organizations do not always provide teams with the training and support needed to insure success. Too often groups are empowered in name only, then given little or no support or training and thus fail to achieve their full potential. During this two-day seminar, team members increase their ability to work together, align work assignments with personal preferences, and improve their problem-solving and conflict-management skills. The Program Organization and Coordination. Team members address and clarify issues concerning their own internal organization and operation. “The Personality Preference Profile.” Participants assess the purpose behind their behavior in relating to others team members under two different sets of conditions: when they are acting productively and therefore experiencing a sense of personal satisfaction and meaning and when they are managing conflict. Understanding Interpersonal Conflict. The group is shown how to manage two quite different types of conflict: conflict which results between individuals because of their different interpersonal preferences and conflict caused by their behavior in the face of on-going conflict. Understanding Problem-solving and Decision-making. Team members identify their own styles, then learn how to improve the group’s problem-solving and decision-making. x Essentials of Leadership: Theory and Practice xxxx The Six Principles of Successful Self Management Improving Group Effectiveness xxxx Coaching for Excellence xxxx Practical Problem Solving Reinventing Careers xxxx Train the Trainer xxxx Developing Individual Group Effectiveness x Copyright 2001 Solutions Management |
